A Nigerian technology innovation company, VaKYum Innovation, is set to launch a groundbreaking product aimed at transforming the landscape of global academic recruitment and remote education.
The product, named ‘Lecturiing’, is a professional networking and job-matching platform designed to connect higher educational institutions with qualified lecturers across the globe for remote lecturing opportunities.
The platform is expected to bridge gaps in local and international academic recruitment by enabling universities and colleges to source, verify and hire qualified lecturers remotely through a single digital ecosystem.
Speaking on the initiative, VaKYum Innovation’s Chief Technology Officer Rasheed Olabisi Owolewa PhD, said the platform was developed to address challenges associated with recruiting qualified academic talent locally and across borders while creating opportunities for lecturers to access global teaching engagements.
According to him, the primary users of the platform are higher educational institutions seeking qualified teaching professionals and lecturers looking for remote employment opportunities.
“Lecturiing is a professional networking and job-matching platform designed to connect higher educational institutions with qualified lecturers locally and across the globe for remote lecturing opportunities,” he said.
Dr Owolewa explained that the platform allows institutions to post vacancies, verify lecturers’ credentials, communicate securely within the application and complete recruitment processes without relying on multiple platforms.
He noted that the solution was built to streamline international academic hiring by providing a trusted environment where employers can access verified teaching talent and lecturers can showcase their qualifications to prospective employers worldwide.
Beyond facilitating recruitment, he said the platform is expected to strengthen collaboration between educators and institutions, while supporting knowledge exchange across countries and regions.
“The platform will connect verified teaching talents with local and global opportunities, create trust and transparency in international academic hiring, reduce the time and risk involved in hiring remote lecturers, and foster long-term collaboration between lecturers and schools,” he added.
The introduction of 'Lecturiing' signals a new dawn for Nigerian lecturers who currently grapple with the challenge of low salaries that are grossly incommensurate with the economic realities of the country. By connecting qualified academics with local institutions and institutions across the globe, the platform will provide them with a credible and accessible avenue to earn more income and gain recognition for their academic qualifications on a global scale.

He noted that the platform has the potential to revolutionise academic employment by enabling lecturers to leverage their knowledge and experience beyond geographical boundaries while creating a more competitive and globally connected higher education ecosystem.
