A Nigerian digital product studio has introduced a new email platform designed to solve one of the most common problems in business communication correcting an email after it has already been sent.
Afterwordmail, developed by Lagos-based Aurum Digital Consulting Limited, allows users to update the subject and full body of a message after delivery. Users can also replace, add or remove attachments, meaning an amended invoice, quotation or contract can replace the earlier document through the same link.
The platform is designed around a simple principle: instead of trying to recall an email that has already reached its recipient, the sender maintains control of the content through a link.
When a correction is made, recipients who access the link see the latest version. This applies whether they open the message shortly after receiving it or days later, and regardless of whether they have already read or forwarded the original email.
Moving beyond traditional email recall
Existing recall functions from services such as Microsoft Outlook and Zoho Mail have limitations because they generally operate between accounts within the same organisation and mail platform.
That means a business cannot necessarily recall a message sent to a customer using Gmail, an external contractor or a partner working for another company.
Afterwordmail takes a different route. Rather than deleting the original email, it gives recipients access to a sender-controlled version of the content through an ordinary browser.
No software needs to be installed by either the sender or recipient.
Every correction is recorded
A key feature of the platform is its version history. Afterwordmail gives users 48 hours to make corrections, after which the message becomes permanently locked.
Each version is retained alongside the date and time it was superseded, including information about attachments. Recipients are also notified whenever the content changes.
Aurum Digital Consulting said the version history cannot be modified or deleted by the sender, even if the live message is subsequently removed.
“In most mail clients, someone forwarding an email can edit the text they are quoting, and the person receiving that forward has no way of telling from the message itself,” the company said.
“The difference is not that we allow edits. It is that ours are recorded. One record, every version kept, every change timestamped, and the recipient told each time something changes.”
Developed in Nigeria for a global market
Although Afterwordmail was developed in Lagos, Aurum Digital Consulting says the platform is intended for businesses in Africa and other parts of the world.
The service costs ₦3,500 per month in the local market following a 30-day free trial.
“There is an assumption that software built in Lagos is built only for Lagos,” the company said. “This solves a problem that a freelancer in Abuja, an accounting firm in Nairobi and an exporter in London all have in exactly the same form.”
The company said Afterwordmail is already being used for invoices, quotations, payment instructions and event communications, where an incorrect message can create financial or operational problems.
Part of a wider SaaS portfolio
Afterwordmail is one of several products developed by Aurum Digital Consulting, which operates as a vertical SaaS studio focused on building software for specific industries.
Its portfolio also includes ClaimLensIQ for insurance claims fraud intelligence, WingWatch Nigeria for aviation consumer rights, Football FanIQ for sports fan intelligence and InsightEx, a capital markets intelligence dashboard covering the Nigerian Exchange.
According to the company, its products are intended to address sectors where generic international software may not adequately reflect local market conditions.
“The pattern we keep finding is that these industries are underserved, not because the problems are unusual, but because nobody has built for them specifically from here,” Aurum Digital Consulting said.
Afterwordmail is available directly from Aurum Digital Consulting Limited and includes a free trial for new users.
