You Matter to Us Foundation Upgrades Public School in Ibadan

More than 300 students and 45 teaching and non-teaching staff at Humani Alaga High School, Sango, Ibadan, are set to benefit from a major educational infrastructure upgrade following the renovation of key school facilities by You Matter to Us Foundation, in partnership with Kleen & Green Energy.

The project, officially commissioned on July 17, 2026, involved the renovation of three classrooms, the upgrade of the school's Physics and Chemistry laboratories with laboratory equipment, the renovatiin of a mini staff room, the provision of new classroom furniture, and the installation of solar-powered electricity to create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Founder of You Matter to Us Foundation, Omolara Ajetunmobi, described the intervention as an investment in the future of children and a reflection of the Foundation's commitment to improving access to quality education.

"A classroom is more than four walls. It shapes confidence, fuels curiosity, and inspires dreams. When the learning environment changes, the learning experience changes too. This project is our contribution to giving these children a better future."

Ajetunmobi noted that the project aligns with the Foundation's mission to create opportunities for children by improving the environments in which they learn.

She also called for stronger collaboration between government, corporate organisations, and non-profit institutions, stressing that sustainable improvements in public education require collective action.

Representing the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, the Local Inspector of Education, Ibadan North Local Government, Mr. Adewusi Akorede, commended the Foundation and its development partners for complementing the government's efforts to improve public education.

He described the intervention as a significant investment in the future of the students, noting that quality education depends not only on dedicated teachers but also on safe classrooms, functional laboratories, and an environment that enables learning.

Development Partner of You Matter to Us Foundation, Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, encouraged the students to remain focused on their education and make the most of the opportunities provided by the upgraded facilities. He urged them to see the renovated classrooms and laboratories as a reminder that people believe in their potential and are committed to investing in their future.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Education, school management, members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), alumni, community leaders, and other stakeholders, who described the initiative as a shining example of how partnerships can drive meaningful improvements in public education.

The renovation marks You Matter to Us Foundation's first school infrastructure project, also the first project outside Lagos State, reinforcing the Foundation's commitment to expanding access to quality learning environments for children across Nigeria.
